Overview
The Lincoln Aviator is the midsize luxury sport utility vehicle with the most flexible seating and roomiest cabin.
Aviator offers best-in-class front-seat headroom and legroom and a choice of bucket or bench seats in the second row, something no other midsize luxury SUV offers. The available front heated-and-cooled seats are also a class-exclusive.
The Aviator's standard third-row seat folds flat to the floor. The optional second-row 40/20/40 split bench seat, combined with the standard third-row seat, offers seating for up to seven adult passengers.
Aviator's cargo capacity of 77 cubic feet comes with no compromise to the class-leading passenger roominess. Its 302-horsepower engine provides athletic performance to complement its fully independent suspension and variable assist rack-and-pinion steering.
All Lincoln vehicles come with complimentary maintenance for 12 months or 12,000 miles. Aviator is built in St. Louis, Mo.
Design and Equipment
The Lincoln Aviator was designed to complement the Lincoln Navigator inside and out, with its commanding presence and stance, satin nickel accents, American burl walnut, premium leather and white light-emitting-diode instrument lighting.
Powertrain
Aviator's 4.6-liter V-8 delivers peak power of 302 horsepower at 5,750 rpm and peak torque of 300 pound-feet at 3,250 rpm; 90 percent of peak torque is available at only 2,000 rpm. The Aviator team began with a very rigid aluminum block that weighs 70 pounds less than a comparable iron block. It is fitted with 10.1:1 high-compression pistons for good power and fuel economy and upgraded connecting rods for durability.
Aluminum 4-valve heads and an aluminum intake manifold with variable-length runners optimize airflow at all engine speeds to improve low-speed tractability and high-rpm power with greatly reduced combustion noise.
Aviator's five-speed automatic transmission features a high stall-speed torque converter and a 3.73:1 axle ratio for strong performance feel, particularly at launch. The sealed transmission has a service interval of 150,000 miles.
Safety
Aviator provides the first measure of defense in emergencies: controllability.
If a collision is unavoidable, a robust frame and a comprehensive portfolio of safety features help protect the driver and passengers, including the Personal Safety SystemTM, Safety CanopyTM side curtain air bag system and standard AdvanceTrac® system with Roll Stability ControlTM.
Another important safety feature is a standard tire-pressure monitoring system.
For the second year in a row, Aviator's suite of safety features earned it a "Best Pick in its Class" rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, based on performance in the 40 mph frontal offset crash test.
For convenience, an electronic rear parking assist feature is standard.
