Explorer MIA: New York International Auto Show 2009

Ford Explorer America Concept
After much anticipation of seeing the Ford Explorer America Concept debut at last year's 2008 New York International Auto Show, my hopes were high for this  year's show. Would we possibly see a new concept, closer resembling production for the 2011 Ford Explorer? Would there be any notable improvements in the outgoing Explorer and Mountaineer generation? Sadly, the 2009 New York International Auto Show was in many ways a letdown.

Regardless of any auto manufacturer, the economic situation within the auto industry was clearly prevalent at this year's show. Gone from the early 2000's are the huge, outdoor arenas; the DUB custom car displays; the offroading Jeep course; the overflow of auto displays at the adjunct exhibit area connected to the Javits Center. This was a toned down show with the least amount of SUVs and trucks that I have seen in the ten consecutive years I have attended the show. The "Flex Fuel" and "E85" mantra that was so prevalent by General Motors only two years ago is replaced by compact cars boasting an average of 35mpg.

Review: RSI Motorsports Bi-Xenon HID kit

With an increasing number of options for high-intensity discharge lighting, or HIDs, that exist on the market, it has become difficult to decide whom to invest your time and money in. We've already reviewed one solution ' the Oznium FlowLighting HID kit which features great performance and a reasonable cost. Unfortunately however, they are no longer an option since Oznium has ceased all HID sales due to regulatory laws. Enter today's alternative, the RSI Motorsports Bi-Xenon HID kit. Offering both high and low beam light output, you can significantly upgrade your light output without having to sacrifice a high beam like most HID kits on the market. And at the ExplorerX group buy price of $171.99 (regular price $399), it's by far one of the most affordable Bi-Xenon kits on the market.

Profile: Carmen Simboli's 2005 Explorer XLT

Take a look at Carmen Simboli's 2005 Explorer XLT and the first thing you'll notice is big wheels and a dark limo tint. Couple that with a sleek set of billet grilles for the front end, Lincoln Aviator window trim, OEM clear corners and Oznium.com FlowLighting HIDs and you got a ride that's sleek and show all at the same time. Go inside, and prepare to be slammed with bass as Carmen has a 15” Fi BTL powered by a MA Audio HK4000D amp, putting out about 3600 continuous watts to the sub. It's safe to say this is no ordinary Explorer.

Without any further ado, let's meet Carmen and see what his Explorer is all about.

Review: Revinyl center console kit

Review: Revinyl center console kit

We all know the familiar story: your second generation Ford Explorer's center console lid vinyl is torn. First, it's a little tear. Then, it grows and grows and finally you're fed up with the way it looks. Now, it's time to fix it, but you don't know the best course of action. Tweed was so 80's, and those fabrics from your local Rag Shop aren't cutting it. Luckily, there's a solution out there for you: revinyl kits that are sold on eBay Motors all of the time. The result is a revinyled center console lid that not only perfectly matches your stock vinyl, but is significantly superior in durability and wear. Whether you choose to revinyl your center console lid yourself or send it to them to be done professionally, you're only a few steps away from a restored center console lid.

Review: Oznium.com FlowLighting HID kit

Oznium.comOnce a luxury car exclusive, High-Intensity Discharge Lamps (or simply HID) are a hot buy and desired item on enthusiasts' vehicles. Whether you are looking to impress friends, car show judges, or simply want better lighting at night, quality HID kits are available today for low prices. In my opinion, HID lighting can give your ride a more exotic look, and earn that "street cred" that many spend big money on. Amongst the many choices on the market, Oznium.com FlowLighting HID kits are what we'll take a look at today. Retailing through their website for the low price of $234.99, this is approximately half of the price for top-of-the-line industry leading brands such as McCullough. If you think that with half the price comes half the performance and features, you're wrong.
