oh ok, See the XE264HR-12 is a .544 lift with 1.7rr which is has a LSA of 112 but when used with 1.6rr it gives you a .512 lift where as the XE264HR-14 has a .512 lift with 1.6rr. The only difference between the two is the lobe seperation, either 112 or 114. I wonder if there's a difference in performance other than the idle?

The XE264HR-14 is NOT Computer Controlled Compatible where as the XE264HR-12 IS. Aren't 2nd generation Explorers/Mountaineers computer controlled?

That is the exact cam I have, and you are right, it says not computer compatible. It still runs though, just fine. This was the cam recommended to me by a cam tech at comp. I just took his word for it, but I swear it used to say it worked on computer controlled vehicles. Who knows, all I know is that it works fine on the explorer computer.

It probably wont work on speed density Mustangs/ Lightnings, that may be the reason they changed the computer friendly part. But mass air vehicles (like yours) can cope with things like a cam change more easily. There are tons of first gen Lightning guys using HO Mustang cams because its just about the only one that works on the speed density 351. This is the same reason the newer Hemi guys dont have alot of cam options, because they are speed density. There are a few guys "creating" vacuum leaks on their trucks to make up for too large cams.

Thanks guys. It now sports an X pipe... has a more exotic sound.

Yes its a 5.0, but not a pushrod, I bored out my 4.6L to a 5.0L.
